Established in 2006, World Kidney Day was created to raise awareness about kidney disease, and how much of an impact it has on a person’s life. Kidney disease affects not only the patient, but also family and friends.
The theme for 2021 World Kidney Day is Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere – Living Well with Kidney Disease. Kidney disease, particularly advanced stages, reduces the ability to participate in everyday activities such as work, vacation, social events. On top of that there are numerous side effects that kidney disease patients combat all the time.
This years’ theme is focusing on both education and awareness about how to manage symptoms effectively and empowerment. The ultimate goal is to be able to live a fruitful life and be able to participate in life.
